Baltic Amber is a fossil resin, formed from trees lived over 50 million years ago. They belonged to large equatorial forests covering North Europe, to North America.
Thanks to the combined action of evaporation, bacterial fermentation and oxidation, the resin emerging from these trees solidified to petrification, giving rise to what we know as Ambra, the glacier formed in those places crushed and moved sediments ‘amber, destroying part of the deposits of this stone.
The remaining deposits are currently on the banks of the Baltic Sea.
The amber contains numerous inclusions of small insects such as mosquitoes, butterflies and leaves sticking on the fresh amber before it solidifies, giving future jewelry an infinite beauty.
The color from golden-yellow to red to black and transparency or opacity depends primarily on the amount of air contained within each amber stone.
